ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE

Responsible for the delivery of services related to dining, refreshments, and room service to all residents, as well as other hospitality services in the residence.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS

Has completed a minimum of grade 12. Has some experience in a hospitality setting. Written and verbal fluency in English is required. Has obtained a Food Handler’s certificate. Preference is given to individuals with some training or prior experience in working with seniors. A resident-oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of Verve.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates in the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program.

Participates in food preparation for meal service. Ensures that the proper dietary restrictions are followed for residents. Helps to meet residents’ personal preferences. Provides assistance to cooks in the preparation and assembly of food items (as assigned). Takes orders and serves appetizers, entrees, desserts and beverages (if applicable).

Prepares and delivers inventory for the kitchen. Helps with clearing and setting tables. Assists with all aspects of the servery and dining room hygiene. Contributes to the appearance and cleanliness of the home.

Provides outstanding public relations with residents, potential clients, staff, suppliers and residents’ guests.

Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems.  This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents and/or any changes to resident’s daily life, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.

Complies with all relevant corporate policies and procedures.

Completes all required mandatory training/education.

Performs other related tasks as delegated by the Dining Services Manager.
