ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE

Under the direction of the General Manager plans, organizes and supervises the activities of the housekeeping, maintenance and laundry departments to ensure high standards of cleanliness and sanitation within the home. Provides quality linen and laundry service within the home in accordance with legislative requirements and budgetary constraints. Oversees preventative maintenance of all equipment in consultation with external service providers.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS

College or University Degree. Environmental Services Management Experience preferred. Must be proficient at Word and Excel. Ability to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to read and interpret manuals related to equipment and systems. Available to be on-call as Manager on Duty and during emergencies.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Participates in and contributes to the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) Program.

  • Establishes and monitors workflow, evaluates performance and production, makes changes as necessary to improve quality of service.
  • Ensures outside grounds work is completed such as sanding, shoveling and salting. Works with service providers to maintain preventative maintenance programs.
  • Plans and encourages staff participation at in-service education programs. Conducts staff meetings as needed.
  • Participates in the hiring process, training and orientation of newly hired staff.
  • Monitors and evaluates Performance as per Verve Policies.
  • Participates in monthly fire checks, fire drills and training front line staff.
  • Establishes and maintains maintenance, housekeeping and laundry routines.
  • Liaises with outside contractors to maintain a good Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Participates in operating and capital budget preparation and monthly tracking.
  • Establishes and maintains communication with other departments, especially for new move ins.
  • Maintains effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers. Uses appropriate lines of communication with management staff
  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System, Food Premises regulations and LTC/RH dietary standards.  This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.
