About the Opportunity
William Clarke College is seeking a suitably skilled College Counsellor who will work with students and their families, from Preparatory to Year 12, providing valuable support, counselling and assessment for students with specific needs. The role involves counselling students, assessing students' learning and behaviour and helping families make informed decisions about their child's education. Our counselling team also identify impediments to students' learning and liase with external agencies regarding students' wellbeing.
This is a full-time position, and the College is willing to discuss temporary or permanent employment with the right candidate
About You
- Qualified Counsellor (background in psychology, social work or related disciplines will be an advantage)
- Experienced in social, emotional and behavioural assessments in a child or educational setting
- The ability to work sensitively with students and their families with respect to a student's social, emotional and learning needs
- Experience with neuro- and culturally-diverse client groups
- Proven ability to problem solve and negotiate conflicting priorities
- Excellent written, phone, verbal, face to face communication and active listening skills
- Strong administration skills, organisational and time management skills
- Ability to apply sound judgement, with a high degree of confidentiality
- The successful candidate will be required to hold or be willing to obtain a valid Working with Children Check in accordance with Child Protection legislation
- Regular practicing member of a Christian church
