About the Opportunity

William Clarke College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Teaching and Learning to lead and manage the quality of curriculum delivery in our Secondary School. The central focus of the role is leading the Head of Faculty team, improving the instructional practice of teachers, and implementing pedagogical approaches that will equip students for success beyond their success at the College. This role is also responsible for the integration of Enterprise Skills into the curriculum in the Secondary School.

Our new Director of Teaching and Learning (7 – 12) will lead the Heads of Faculty in developing and sustaining effective learning environments and teaching programs that centre on student progress. This Director reports to the Head of Curriculum and works with the Curriculum team, including the Head of Secondary School and the Director of Teaching and Learning (P – 6) in developing and implementing College-wide teaching and learning initiatives. The role also carries a small proportion of face to face teaching and is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. 

This is a Permanent, Full-Time position.

  • A proven record as a teacher who understands the complexities and practicalities of teaching to enable student progress. 
  • A proven record as a leader who is able to guide, motivate and influence colleagues
  • A strategic thinker who is also able to plan and deliver
  • Relational; able to empathise, collaborate and communicate with all stakeholders
  • An individual of integrity who maintains high standards of self, expects high standards of others, while demonstrating high levels of support and accountability
  • A person whose words and actions inspire others
  • Sets high standards in areas of scholarship, dress and personal behaviour
  • Able to balance personal and professional life in a demanding position
  • Proficient in relevant computer applications and an ability to learn and adapt to new computer systems
  • Strong people management skills, interpersonal communication and the ability and willingness to have ‘difficult conversations'
  • A regularly practicing member of a Christian church.
  • Educational and personal philosophies aligned with the College's purpose statement and virtues.
