About the Role

The Café Manager is responsible for driving sales, profitability, food safety standards and people development within our new café in store at Melbourne Airport.

The Café Manager is the lead for the Food and Beverage function across two café in shop sites. This position works closely with the café team and the leadership team to ensure great customer standards are met and co-ordinate the systems and processes that are critical to the success of the operation.  

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Uphold high standards of store presentation, customer service, and product quality
  • Manage the rosters, recruitment, performance, and morale of the café team
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers
  • Improve store profitability by driving sales and margins whilst strictly adhering to wage and general expenditure budgets
  • Oversee and assist with food preparation and presentation
  • Oversee and assist with barista duties
  • Manage stock movement and administration
  • Manage cash takings and sales reporting
  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety and hygiene controls

Skills & Experience

  • At least 3 years' experience in a similar managerial position in the hospitality industry
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate staff with varying levels of skill and experience
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • A good understanding of HACCP and hygiene practices
  • Sound barista skills and knowledge of espresso coffee service
  • Food preparation experience
  • Comfortable working with numbers and sales reports
  • Sound computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office
  • Strong team player
  • Good time management skills
