  • Full time salaried position (Monday – Friday 6am – 2:30pm).

About the Position

As a Chef at the SoHo café operated by Food by WHSmith, you'll need to be able to operate in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Be comfortable multitasking to ensure that our customers receive the highest level of service and quality food offering.

You will also be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: 

  • Pre-service kitchen preparation
  • Working as part of a team to prepare for breakfast/lunch service and present menu items to the Food by WHSmith standards.
  • Maintaining Workplace Health Safety (WHS) compliance and HACCP standards.
  • Collaborating with the multi-site head chef to develop the menu offering. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen.
  • Assume responsibility of all kitchen duties, ordering and compliance.

*This is a full-time salaried position, located at our SoHo St Leonards site. You will be required to work Monday – Friday from 6am to 2:30pm.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • Ideally Trade qualified and a minimum of 2 years kitchen experience (producing breakfast items, sandwiches, Hot dishes, and salads.
  • Food Safety Supervisor certification (not essential)
  • Experience managing stock control and costs.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both autonomously & as part of a team.
  • An interest in food and beverage, and an eye for detail!
