About the Position

WHSmith Australia is constantly growing and innovating. Our latest area of growth is the newly acquired Alfred Hospital estate. We will be undergoing a refurbishment project and will be opening multiple brand new, state of the art hospitality facilities during the year. We are currently looking for a Full-time Cook to support our temporary sites, and eventually transition to our exciting new concept stores.

As a Cook, you'll need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable multitasking to ensure that our customers receive the highest level of service. 

You will also be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: 

  • Pre-service kitchen preparation
  • Preparation of all ingredients and menu items
  • Maintaining food safety, WHS and HACCAP standards
  • Responsible for ensuring the kitchen is always a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
  • Assume some responsibility of all kitchen duties, ordering and compliance.

Please note, our cafe is located at 541 St Kilda Road, Melbourne.

Please note, this position is paid in accordance with the Fast Food Industry Award, classified as a Level 2. The standard adult hourly pay rate in line with this level is $27.17. Please confirm your hourly salary expectations in your application. 

About You

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • 2 Years of food preparation and presentation experience within a hospitality environment
  • Food Safety Supervisor certification is desired. 
  • HACCP & food safety knowledge
  • Experience managing stock control and costs.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for food and beverage.
