Our Australian operations, under which 7 brands currently operate, are rapidly expanding and since WHSmith is expected to continue this growth, we are looking for an experienced Training Manager to join us on this journey.
About the Role
The Training & Development Manager is responsible for the development, planning and facilitation of the training framework across the business. This role is responsible for establishing trainings needs that relate to the organisation’s strategic people plan and anticipated organisation development needs
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Analyse training needs, develop training plans and procedures, prepare training materials, and supervise courses to ensure an adequate supply of trained team and to achieve succession plans
- Plan, conduct, coordinate studies to analyse the training & development needs of specific groups of employees
- Be responsible for training initiatives and projects from the people plan under area of responsibility, working with colleagues and relevant people throughout the business
- Develop training manuals and other training aids. Maintain standard practice manuals and prepare and issue training handbooks and similar materials, as required
- Oversee and evaluate internal and external training programs to ensure training is delivered to an accredited standard
- Counsel line management on the placement and development of team to make effective use of their qualifications, develop future responsibility, and best serve the organisation’s interests
- Partner and develop relationships with registered training organisations for the optimum outcome for team members and organisation strategies.
- Manage any relevant training platforms, including system administration and online training course enrolment
Skills & Experience
- Relevant qualifications
- Minimum 5 years retail training experience
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement training and development programs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong business acumen and time management
