Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania.

 

Your new role

This role supports clients living independently to enhance their wellbeing through meaningful recreational and social activities. It involves identifying and facilitating individual interests, connecting clients with community programs, collaborating with Case Managers, carers, and family members, and developing personalised recreation plans. The role requires a client-centred approach, working in partnership with clients to achieve agreed outcomes while adapting support to meet each individual's needs.

 

  • Develop and deliver personalised recreation and leisure programs that promote client independence, wellbeing, and community participation
  • Support clients to maintain social connections by facilitating access to community activities, events, and services while working collaboratively with Case Management staff
  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure confidentiality while complying with Wintringham's Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through professional development, quality initiatives, and staying informed about industry best practices
  • Foster effective communication, participate in problem-solving and team collaboration, and undertake additional duties as directed by the Recreation Coordinator

 

 

We are looking for candidates with the following:

 

  • Recreation, Community Development, Psychology, Disability, or Social Work qualification or equivalent (Cert IV or higher)
  • A current motor car driving licence
  • First Aid Certificate 2
  • Demonstrated experience supporting older people, including those living with dementia, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging recreational programs using local community resources and services
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and time management skills, with a flexible, creative, and client-centred approach that motivates older people and supports them to achieve their individual goals
