Williamstown Hostel (on Bunurong Country) located close to Melbourne’s CBD offers affordable, high quality accommodation to people aged 50 years and over. We provide a safe, flexible and caring family-style environment, which allows residents to maintain their chosen lifestyles, habits and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.

 

Your new role

We are currently seeking a proactive Personal Care Assistant (with the ability to administer medications) to join our friendly and dynamic residential team at our Williamstown Hostel on a Part Time basis for 42 hours per fortnight.

Your fortnightly roster will be as follows:

 

Week 1- Thursday (2200 - 0715)

Week 2- Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday (2000 – 0715)

 

Candidates must have availability to work all of the above shifts. We kindly ask you to not apply for this role if you cannot work all the above shifts.  

 

Your responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Assisting residents with personal care including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming and other activities of daily living
  • To observe and report changes in resident’s behaviour or physical condition
  • To undertake medication management and treatment procedures as directed by the Residential Site Manager or person in charge
  • To liaise with medical practitioners, pharmacists and other health services to provide relevant services for the care and wellbeing of the residents
  • Assisting in the implementation of cigarette and alcohol programs
  • Observing and reporting changes in residents behaviour or physical condition and maintain appropriate documentation as required
  • Providing emotional support to residents.

 

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Ability to work both in team and autonomously.
  • Certificate III/IV in Aged Care/Individual Support
  • Completion of medication administration unit (HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication)
  • Prior experience in housing & homelessness support, aged care, welfare, disability support, mental health or community/home care
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to enhance or maintain our residents independence and lifestyle
  • A friendly and non-judgmental attitude

Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including having three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine as well as a 2024 influenza vaccination before commencing employment and must provide evidence.
