Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania

Our Williamstown Hostel located close to Melbourne’s CBD offers affordable, high-quality accommodation to people aged 50 years and over. We provide a safe, flexible and caring family-style environment, which allows residents to maintain their chosen lifestyles, habits and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.

 

Your new role

Wintringham is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Food Services Attendant to join our Food Services Team on a permanent Part Time basis . This role will undertake a range of general kitchen duties such as meal distribution to our other residential homes, food preparation, plating and service of food, ensuring that meals are nutritious and well presented. 

Your fortnightly roster will be as below:

Week 1: Monday (1130 - 1930), Tuesday (1130 - 1930) Sunday (1130 – 1930)

Week 2: Monday (1130 - 1930), Tuesday (1130 - 1930)

 

Your responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Complying with the requirements of the food safety program.
  • Assisting with the preparation of all meals, drinks and snacks.
  • Serving and cleaning up after meals.
  • Assisting with cleaning after meals (dishwashing, ad hoc cleaning)
  • Other duties as directed by the Domestic Services Supervisor

 

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen role – preferably in Aged Care/Health Care
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • A non-judgmental approach to working with people
  • Qualifications and experience in food handling, infection control, manual handling and the use of cleaning chemicals (highly advantageous)
  • Food Safety Certificate and Food Handlers Certificate (highly advantageous)
  • Physically able to perform manual tasks including (but not limited to) bending & lifting

Applicants who have lived in a country other than Australia for a period longer than 12 months in the last 10 years may be required to undergo an International Police Check.

Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including having three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine before commencing employment and must provide evidence.
