Our Williamstown Hostel located close to Melbourne’s CBD offers affordable, high-quality accommodation to people aged 50 years and over. We provide a safe, flexible and caring family-style environment, which allows residents to maintain their chosen lifestyles, habits and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.

 

Your new role

We are currently seeking an Enrolled Endorsed Nurse Supervisor to join the residential team at our Williamstown Hostel on a Part Time basis for 8 shifts per fortnight. In this fixed term role, running for three months, you will be providing leadership and assisting the operation of the facility whilst also providing care to residents with a supportive small team of nurses and carers.

Your fortnightly roster will be as below:

Week 1: Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday (2200 -0715)

Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (2200 – 0715)

 

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Provide care services as detailed in the individual resident Care Plan.
  • Undertake detailed clinical assessments of unwell residents (including medications), seek assistance as required and complete a detailed report of interventions and outcomes.
  • Liaise with medical practitioners, pharmacists and other health services to provide relevant services for the care and wellbeing of the residents
  • Provide/directly supervise complex care such as wound management, palliative care, and emergency procedures.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of medication procedures and practices in accordance with Wintringham policy.
  • Provide leadership in the management of cigarette and alcohol programs

           

What we will require from you:

  • Diploma of Nursing (with current registration at AHPRA)
  • Previous experience in a supervisor/team leader role (Mandatory)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge on conflict resolution and dealing with challenging behaviours
  • An understanding of the special needs of older people
  • The ability to work autonomously
  • The ability to enhance or maintain our resident’s independence and lifestyle
