Marine Rescue NSW (MRNSW) is the State’s legislated marine rescue service, committed to the mission of saving lives on what is the busiest coastline and waterways in the country. 

Boasting the largest and most advanced search and rescue fleet in Australasia, along with the most extensive marine VHF radio network, the 3,000 highly trained volunteers and staff in 44 strategically located units deliver this life-saving service 24/7/365.

The Headquarters staff at MRNSW provide a well-resourced and close-knit management and support team function for our volunteer units as well as government and community partners and stakeholders.

About the Opportunity

MRNSW now have an opportunity for an autonomous Stores Manager to join their team based at Cronulla, NSW on a permanent, full-time basis.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful applicant will play an integral role in managing the logistics and function of MRNSWs ‘Stores’ (Warehouse) ensuring mission-critical uniform, equipment, PPE and essential supplies are stocked, maintained and distributed to units/personnel with the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness.

The Stores Manager will engage with key MRNSW stakeholders on a daily basis including members, staff, suppliers and the general public. 

The day-to-day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Managing daily Stores (warehouse) activities including receiving goods and filling and shipping orders; 
  • Utilising appropriate systems to capture the ordering, receipting, dispatching and transporting of goods into and out of Stores;
  • Maintaining adequate levels of stock at all times, preparing monthly stock forecast reports for the CFO, and coordinating annual stocktake;
  • Working within allocated financial budgets while ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures;
  • Overseeing the servicing of lifejackets for all units/personnel;
  • Purchasing items directly from suppliers, ensuring value for money for MRNSW; and
  • Recommending and implementing quality of service improvement measures to increase efficiency and ensure continuous Stores improvement.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to have demonstrable experience in Warehouse/Stores Management or a similar logistics role. Previous Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience, preferably in NetSuite, is also a direct requirement of the role.

While not essential, any work undertaken for volunteer, government or emergency service organisations will be highly regarded.

MRNSW is seeking a self-motivated individual who demonstrates a commitment to supporting volunteers, has a friendly and personable nature, and maintains high levels of accountability and professionalism at all times.

Highly organised with a strong customer service focus, you will demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt while working proactively both as a member of a team and for the majority of the time, autonomously, to provide effective support to all MRNSW units/personnel. 

A confident and self-directed manager, you must be comfortable independently managing the Store's logistics and functioning as you will not have any direct reports to manage yourself.

Furthermore, you will be competent in general mathematics, writing and literacy and be comfortable learning and utilising all relevant computer systems and software.

Please note: You must hold a current, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence.
