About the organisation

Boort District Health (BDH) is a regional public hospital that provides community emergency and a range of health care services. A smaller hospital, BDH features less than 50 beds, which allows their staff to deliver quality, flexible and responsive health services to their patients. The organisation works on a vision of enrichment of health and wellbeing in the community and provides services which are individually tailored and very client focused. The staff are a highly ethical, hard-working team who are able to provide a range of specialised services including aged care, palliative care, physiotherapy, dental and podiatry. Boort District is currently in a growth period and is in the process of building a new Aged Care facility which will be focused on the delivery of high level, respectful care to its patients.

About the opportunity  

Boort District Health is currently seeking a highly organised and compassionate Director of Clinical Services to join the hardworking team full time in Boort, Victoria

In this role, you will provide leadership and management to all staff involved in the delivery of health services at BDH, proactively improving health services to the Boort community.

Your day-to-day activities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Ensuring compliance of relevant legislation, laws and other regulations by staff;
  • Effectively communicating between BDH client care and stakeholders in a professional manner;
  • Promotion and implementation of flexible, community-based Aged Care services;
  • Ensuring the department is managed within budget;
  • Ongoing development of business strategies to support the business strategic plan;
  • Building collaborative relationships with all members of staff and networking throughout the community;
  • Reviewing organisational procedures to ensure maximum efficiency;
  • Development of an annual business plan and accompanying strategies; and
  • Completion of administration reports and role duties as required.

To be considered for this role, you must be a Registered Nurse with AHPRA, with post graduate qualifications in Business or Health Management. The successful applicant will have management or team leader experience and, ideally, a background in clinical care, providing them with a foundation of knowledge to develop a vision, and negotiate with staff to achieve strategic goals and ensure compliance. You will have experience in rostering and financial acumen. As BDH is a community-minded organisation, you will exhibit a demonstrated understanding of the need for continuation of both personal and organisation development and networking amongst the community.  

BDH is looking for a candidate to step up and take ownership of the direction of the organisation. Ideally, the successful applicant would have extensive experience in a relevant nursing discipline and possess a solid understanding of health OH&S systems. This position requires a natural leader with a high attention to detail, who has the desire to enrich the health and wellbeing of the community through a tailored and future-forecasting visionary model of care. You will have experience in rostering and financial acumen and be professionally presented at all times. The successful applicant will be a very caring individual, who is personally dedicated to the improvement and optimisation of health care within the wider community.

A strategic visionary, you are driven to take a 'hands-on' approach to your work, you are able to articulate requirements clearly and you choose to lead by example. You will be highly motivated and driven to succeed, and you will have a professional resilience and a future-focus in strategic plans. You have a passion for all aspects of Clinical Care and a true desire to improve the lives of the poorly within the wider community. You will also be highly a supportive individual who is able to effectively communicate with all members of staff and provide direction in the absence of the CEO.

Ideally, this candidate would also possess post graduate qualifications in Management or very extensive experience in a Management/Clinical Services position.
