We have an exciting Scholarship opportunity for a full-time PhD candidate to undertake research on cutting-edge adaptive platform trial design to revolutionise chronic kidney disease (CKD) treatment. Adaptive, platform clinical trials evolve in real-time, test multiple treatments efficiently across diverse patient populations.

The rest of the supervision team will be determined based on the candidate’s interests and the evolution of the chosen research topic.
Who are we Looking for?
Candidates must have a strong interest in clinical trials, nephrology, and translational research. They will be enthusiastic, well-organised, and have excellent oral and written communication skills, as evidenced by previous publications in peer-reviewed journals. An ability to work autonomously and to be self-directed in learning, as well as to contribute to team activities and discussions, is necessary for the successful completion of this thesis.
Eligibility
Candidates must hold a relevant first or second-class Honours degree or Masters degree with a substantial research component and/or be able to demonstrate equivalent research experience.
Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents are eligible to apply.
The selected candidate will be supported through the UNSW HDR application process and must apply for the program 1776 – Medicine (The George Institute for Global Health).
Award Amount
The successful candidate will receive a living allowance stipend of $38,438k* p.a. + indexation for 3.5 years.
*Based on 2025 UNSW RTP rate, 2026 rate currently unknown
