In the early 1990's, our client, Garnduwa Amboorny Wirnan, with the support of the Ministry of Sport and Recreation (now the Department of Sport and Recreation), formed six core strategies for the development of Indigenous sport and recreation, within the Kimberley region.
The organisation has positive development at heart, encouraging and assisting remote indigenous communities to become self-sufficient in the delivery and staging of sport. They focus on improving physical and mental health whilst inspiring a generation of potential leaders.
Our client is seeking two Active Community Coordinator's to join their operation in Derby & Fitzroy Crossing, Kimberly, WA, with the potential to earn up to $80,000 (Salary up to $65,500 +Super +Salary Sacrifice Benefits +Subsidised Housing).
The primary purpose of this position is to improve communities through the coordination and delivery of sports and recreation services and activities.
Reporting to the Area Manager, some of your responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and deliver sports and recreation services and activities in line with the objectives and policies of the Organisation
- Ensure that the organisation is well represented at all times
- Work with local community leaders and stakeholders to generate strong ongoing relationships
- Collate program data, prepare reports and funding submissions
- Manage remote staff and volunteers
To be successful in this role you will have experience working with Aboriginal people and remote communities. You will also have demonstrated experience in the delivery of community services activities OR demonstrated planning and coordination of Sport and Recreation activities. You must also have strong communication skills, both written & oral, with the ability to manage a diverse array of stakeholder relationships and have experience in the collation of program data & the preparation of reports & funding submissions.
Finally, you will have demonstrated commitment to the building of communities and the ability to manage remote staff and volunteers.
Due to the nature of the role, you must have full rights to work in Australia, hold a valid & current WA Drivers Licence and have (or be prepared to undertake) an up-to-date National Police Record check.
