About the Opportunity

FFA has an opportunity for a Pacific-European Union Maritime Partnership (PEUMP) Team Leader & Activities Coordinator to join their team in Honiara, Solomon Islands, on a 3-year contract, with renewal subject to performance appraisals and availability of funding. Depending on where you are currently based, you may also begin the role remotely and make the move to Honiara once you are able. 

As our next PEUMP Team Leader and Activities Coordinator, you will have oversight over all FFA activities associated with the PEUMP programme. Reporting to the Director of Fisheries Development, you will coordinate project activities with other implementing agencies to promote sector-led growth of the domestic tuna industry.

Core duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Project management, coordination with other agencies implementing the PEUMP programme and communications
  • Coordinating technical assistance to PACP countries to comply with WCPFC conservation and management measures
  • Overseeing the provision of assistance to Pacific-ACP countries in the preparation and implementation of comprehensive private sector-oriented tuna national development policies and strategies
  • Ensuring FFA PEUMP documentation, records and finances are well-maintained, in line with both FFA and PEMP PAGoDA record-keeping requirements

About You

To be considered for this role you will hold, at a minimum, an undergraduate degree in public administration, management, or another related discipline relevant to the management of donor-funded projects. Candidates with a qualification in fisheries management, marine policy, or similar, will be highly regarded.

You should also have at least seven years of experience in project management, as well as prior demonstrated experience in working with Pacific and/or other developing countries. You will draw on your background in coordinating projects with a range of stakeholders to ensure compliance among FFA member nations. Your highly developed communication and organisational skills will be crucial to your continued success in the role, as will your ability to manage relationships with a range of diverse stakeholders.

You will be offered a competitive remuneration package circa US$94,801.98 - US$131,244.00 (tax-free, for citizens of most countries), commensurate with your skills and experience.

This includes superannuation, paid at 7.5% into either a nominated fund or as an additional cash supplement. FFA reimburses all reasonable medical, dental, and optical expenses for yourself and dependants. Insurance coverage is also provided for personal accident, life, medical & repatriation.

Education for dependent children will be reimbursed at 75% of tuition fees (Conditions apply). If your dependent child is educated overseas, paid school travel may be available for you or your child to visit each other once a year. 

Relocation expenses will be paid, with an establishment grant paid on arrival in Honiara, and accommodation assistance also available.

Annual airfares back to the country of repatriation will be provided, and a repatriation allowance of 2 weeks’ base salary on return to home-base at the end of the contract. There is also a retention incentive of 21% of your base salary which will be paid on the completion of your contract.

On top of all this, you will have access to 6 weeks of annual leave each year, giving you plenty of time to explore this stunning part of the world!
