Your Next Opportunity

As our next Senior Database & Middleware Administrator working Full-Time out of Hobart, TAS, your primary responsibility will be to support the Department's ICT systems, ensuring the integrity, security, availability, and performance of database systems.

Your core responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Managing and maintaining database systems and middleware products
  • Ensuring database and middleware security and integrity
  • Monitoring database performance
  • Implementing and managing database backups and recovery plans
  • Supporting database system optimisation
  • Assisting in database design and implementation
  • Providing technical support for database issues
  • Collaborating with ICT teams to enhance database and application integrations
  • Participate in formulating and maintaining technical standards

What You’ll Bring to the Team

To qualify, you will need demonstrated high-level experience in the delivery of database administration services using Microsoft SQL Server, middleware administration along with associated tools and technologies.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (eg. Computer Science or Information Technology, etc)
  • Experience with administrating corporate applications on Microsoft Windows Server, Unix server or Azure IaaS
  • Proficiency in Apache Web Server, IIS applications, Wildfly/Java Application Server, Apache Tomcat
  • Advanced knowledge of contemporary project management practices
  • Highly developed research, analytical, evaluation and reporting skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication skills and the ability to liaise and negotiate effectively

Your ability to manage self and others to deliver high-quality outcomes within predetermined timeframes will be critical, as will your capacity for complex problem-solving in line with strategic directions.

In addition to a competitive starting salary ranging from $105,000 - $119,000 + 11% super, the successful candidate will enjoy a workplace culture that offers flexible working arrangements tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
