Oval Hotel Night Manager

The Night Manager will assist in overseeing the operations of the hotel during the night. A key focus will be to provide leadership and support to all members of the Front Office team to deliver a flawless changeover from the day to night shift. Not only will you be a night owl, but you’ll be passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences at the Oval Hotel and focus on providing support to ensure our team objectives are being met.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead, manage and support the night shift team to provide an exceptional standard of service for our guests.
  • Act as the manager on duty, as required, and oversee front desk operations such as guest registration, room assignment, departures and guest queries, including actively resolving any concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Front Office management team to ensure seamless transition from day to night operations.
  • Conduct briefings for all night staff and informing them of nightly activities.
  • Perform financial reporting and auditing requirements to close out end of day procedures.
  • Attend to minor issues within apartments when Maintenance and Housekeeping employees are not available.
  • Manage the compliance of company policies and procedures relating to the operation of the department.
  • Perform Night Porter duties when rostered.
  • Assist with basic cleaning and maintenance of the lobby and Hotel administration office.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Experience in a similar hospitality environment, preferably with hotel experience working at night.
  • Significant experience in guest services, with a proven track record of customer service excellence.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and maintain a calm attitude under pressure.
  • Strong technical skills – ability to navigate a range of systems and manipulate data for reporting purposes.
  • Outstanding communication and polished customer service skills.
  • Passion and drive to go above and beyond. 
  • Strong understanding of hotel selling status, rates, packages plans, room types, credit and cancellation policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in hotel property management system, exposure to Opera PMS is highly regarded.

This is a full-time opportunity with the general span of hours between 11pm and 7am across a seven-day roster. Please note out of hours work including weekends and public holidays will be a requirement.
