Assistant Events Manager

Supporting our Senior Events Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading our Functions & Events Sales team and guiding the coordination of high-value, complex and VIP events. This rare opportunity will appeal to a seasoned sales and event professional who is ready to step into a leadership role and mentor our next generation of event specialists. 

You will work closely with our F&B operations, kitchen, venue managers and marketing teams to convert opportunities, refine sales processes, and ensure consistent delivery of exceptional client experiences. You'll draw on your experience in a senior event management role and with a talent for creating world-class experiences, you’ll be charged with the planning, execution, problem solving and reporting requirements for your events. This is not your average events role – it requires strategic thinking, high-level client engagement, strong leadership skills and the operational understanding to execute flawlessly. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Converting and coordinating a portfolio of high-profile and large-scale events.
  • Mentoring and supporting the Functions and Events team, contributing to onboarding and training across the wider team.
  • Representing Adelaide Oval at internal and external events, client site inspections and networking opportunities.
  • Driving revenue through the development of strategic sales plans and innovative event solutions.
  • Assisting the Senior Events Manager and stepping into a leadership role when required.
  • Building relationships with key clients, agencies, and suppliers to remain top-of-mind in a competitive events market.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Proven experience in event sales and planning in a large-scale venue, hotel, or hospitality environment.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to inspire team performance and positive culture.
  • Strong commercial acumen - proposal writing, forecasting, and CRM management experience.
  • Excellent client management and interpersonal skills with a passion for delivering top-tier service.
  • A cool head under pressure and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Significant experience in a senior events role supported by tertiary qualifications in event sales or business management.
