About The Opportunity
Your role as a Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre - Community Development Officer is to develop and implement a range of strategies to enable community members access to individualised support services to strengthen the social connectedness, participation and resilience of disadvantaged or at-risk community members; and increase broader community awareness of social issues.
The Neighbourhood Centre is jointly funded by the Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts and Council with the intent to reduce vulnerability and disadvantage. Your role is to ensure our community has access to information and services, and to lead and facilitate active participation in various programs and activities for the Gin Gin community.
In this role, you will establish and maintain appropriate consultative mechanisms and links between community, Council and community organisations that foster a coordinator approach to addressing community needs. In addition to this, you will identify gaps in service delivery and seek funding opportunities to address these needs, as well as, administer the Community activities budget.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Human Services, Social Work and/or behavioural/social sciences with a minimum of three years relevant industry experience or substantial experience
- Hold and continue to hold both a current class 'C' drivers licence and Working with Children Blue Card
- Demonstrated experience in community development, working with disadvantaged persons, individual groups, youth and communities
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating activities in a regional/rural environment including the ability to attract, identify and source funding for, community projects, groups and organisations
- Knowledge of and skills in social needs analysis, social planning and service development and to develop strategic responses to address identified needs
- Demonstrated experience with local and regional networks and government departments and knowledge of relevant government policy and funding programs
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage and prioritise a wide range of tasks with minimal supervision
- Well-developed interpersonal and customer service communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects within timeframes and budget
