About the role

Bathurst Regional Council currently has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced person to join Council's Engineering Department in the role of Manager Technical Services. This position is responsible for managing and controlling Council's Technical Services Section, this is a key part of the team that keeps this thriving regional city moving forward. 

Section functions include Engineering Design, Major Projects, Traffic Management, Airport Management, Building Services, and Land Development. 

Managing a workforce of six direct reports and approximately 30 indirect staff will give you the opportunity to utilise strong communication and motivational skills. 

You will hold a current University Degree in Civil Engineering with at least 10 years of experience. 

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification acceptable for Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia. 
  • Comprehensive Conceptual, analytical, verbal communication and written skills of a high standard. 
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate major issues and liaise effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in the management and motivation of professional staff. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage Council relationships with external stakeholders e.g., Roads & Maritime Services
  • Relevant Local Government engineering design experience (5-10 years).
  • Project and contract management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in risk management principals. 
  • A current NSW Class C Driver's Licence.

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug & alcohol screen.

Salary: Salary package of up to $164,000 + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance + Super + Leaseback Vehicle

Position Status: Permanent Full Time

Hours of work: 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week
