Plant Operator/Labourer (Recreation Tree Crew)

About the Role

Bathurst Regional Council is currently seeking a suitably experienced person to join the Recreation section's Tree Crew as a Plant Operator/Labourer.  

As Plant Operator / Labourer within Council’s Recreation section, you will be required to undertake general tree maintenance activities and a variety of work programs associated with Council’s Tree Maintenance Gang.  Other activities required will involve labouring duties within the Recreation section as required. 

Other duties will include but are not limited to; tree removal & pruning, tree planting, playground maintenance & installations, general park labouring activities, other maintenance duties associated with the Recreation section and providing relief operation of other plant as required. 

The successful candidate will have the ability to carry out various tree works and other projects related to the Tree Maintenance Gang, competently operate a truck & EWP truck, as well as other plant associated with the tree crew and the Recreation section to a satisfactory standard, provide labouring and other related duties within the Recreation section as required, and ensure that safe working procedures are observed and adhered to.

Key Requirements

  • Possess a current Class MR NSW Driver’s Licence.
  • Sound knowledge of mowing and labouring operations 
  • Previous heavy vehicle operation experience
  • WH&S Construction /Induction Card (White Card)
  • Demonstrated experience in labouring duties and the ability to meet the physical demands of labouring works.
  • The agreement to take Annual Leave in accordance with the Recreation Section's leave roster and outside the recognised peak growing season.
  • Adequate numeracy and literacy skills to fulfil the requirements of the position

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug & alcohol screen.

Salary: $1,008.70 to $1,059.81 per week + super + adverse working allowance ($18.28pw)

Position Status: Permanent Full Time 

Hours of work: 38 hours per week with an RDO every third week
