Council owns and operates the Cobar Shire & TAFE Library, Great Cobar Museum, Lilliane Brady Village (aged care), Children's Services (OOSH, FDC, In-Home Care, and Long Day Care), Youth & Fitness Centre as well as works depots in Euabalong and Cobar.

Kubby House Child Care Centre is a 31-place service and is the only long day care provider in town. Council has recently been awarded funding to build a brand new Early Learning Centre (ELC) to meet the growing needs of our community, which has been architecturally designed specifically to exceed best practice industry standards. Our new centre is expected to be 'open for business' in 2023, with the capacity to accommodate up to 88 children.


We are seeking an enthusiastic, kind, and caring Early Childhood Teacher to develop best practice models to plan, implement and evaluate programs and activities for children aged 0-5 years. Your previous experience as an educational leader combined with your comprehensive understanding of the early learning years framework and national quality standards and your ability to recognise and develop the strengths in our educators will see you succeed in this role.

You will be Degree qualified and passionate about early childhood education and play-based learning, with a commitment to bringing learning to life through developmentally appropriate programs that inspire the children in our care to reach their full potential. We are looking for someone who brings their best self to work and builds positive relationships with the children and families to create a safe, fun, inviting, and nurturing learning environment.


Reporting to the Centre Coordinator, this role is responsible for developing and implementing a high-quality, innovative, and inclusive pedagogical learning program ensuring compliance with the required standards, legislation and regulations.

The current service has two rooms 0-3 years (12 places) and 3-5 years (19 places), our brand new ELC will allow us to grow and meet the current and future demand for our community, specifically in the under two age group.

This position offers a salary up to $87,000 (full-time equivalent) under Council's salary system with employment terms and conditions in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.

Hours and work days are negotiable.

Council staff working in child related services are required to be double vaccinated and therefore proof of vaccination is required on application.
