Context and Role

 

The Research Officer will proactively participate in facilitating the conduct and implementation of the PHC component of the NIHR-GHRC research project. He/She will be required to act as the liaison between with the internal team members and external collaborators contributing to the project work.

 

The Research Officer will be based in Hyderabad but should be willing and able to undertake domestic and international travel, as required. The appointment is initially for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension, based on future funding and higher studies pursued. Any Indian applicant is eligible to apply.

 

Reporting Relationships

The Research Officer will report to Global Strategic Priority Lead - Better Care & Director Primary Health Care on this project, at The George Institute for Global Health, India.

 

Duties and Key Responsibilities

The Research Officer would be expected to:

Actively involve in conducting the desk reviews, field research activities, design of the intervention, project implementation and documentation of the NIHR-GHRC project.

 

Key responsibilities are to:

  1. Conduct literature reviews under guidance
  2. Develop data collection tools
  3. Coordinate in field research activities and data collection
  4. Assist in testing and troubleshooting technical issues related to digital health tools
  5. Assist in the development of SMARThealth applications
  6. Act as the liaison between the field team and the technical/in office team throughout the project implementation
  7. Contribute to data management and data analysis
  8. Participate & facilitate regular research team meetings
  9. Contribute to project management related documentation
  10. Assist in the preparation of research protocols, reports, publications, and presentations.
  11. Contribute to the writing, analysis, and interpretation of research findings
  12. Display leadership qualities by guiding the research team, offering innovative solutions, and contributing to the overall growth and success of research initiatives.
  13. Perform any other research-related tasks as required by ongoing projects and research needs.
  14. Other work assigned by the manager and senior team members

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., health sciences, medical sciences, public health).
  • Appropriate post-graduate qualification in health (e.g., health sciences, medical sciences, public health) and development is preferred.
  • Prior experience (at least 3 years) in a research setting, preferably in healthcare or clinical research.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of primary health care systems including the delivery of primary health care services is essential.
  • Experience in epidemiological, community-based, or health systems research studies
  • Experience in undertaking literature reviews, and writing for publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines
  • Availability and willingness to undertake national and international travel.
