George Institute Services India

 

George Institute Services India Pvt Ltd (GIS) is a step down subsidiary of The George Institute for Global Health, Australia (TGI), and has been set up as a commercial, for-profit entity to provide advisory and consulting services in the healthcare space, undertake commissioned research, and provide various services to overseas group entities. 

Context and Role 

The Global Mentorship program fosters genuine academic engagement and enhances the appreciation for collaboration both internally and across the broader healthcare sector.

The Global Mentorship Network initiative connects PhD students and postdoctoral fellows with senior-level academics and industry leaders in a comprehensive one-year mentoring program.

 

The purpose of this role is to spearhead the development of the Global Mentorship initiative, starting with the inaugural pilot program in India. The aim is to create a scalable model that can be effectively implemented across the entire global network. The Program Manager will be responsible for designing the program from inception to implementation working with key stakeholders PhD students and postdoctoral fellows (mentees) to meaningfully connect, to enhance their professional development.

 

The Program Manager will report to Global Lead, Research Training and will be responsible for overseeing the program on a global scale. This role demands proficiency in people management, organisational skills, prioritisation of competing deadlines, program management, and strong interpersonal skills.

 

The Program Manager will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining numerous relationships with various GIS stakeholders with a strong focus in each of the regions, as well as but not limited to individuals, universities, MRI’s and other such institutions.

The ideal candidate will be collaborative yet capable of operating with a high degree of autonomy. They should bring a creative, solutions-focused and demonstrate a proactive, can-do attitude. Additionally, the successful candidate should exhibit an open, professional, and inclusive approach to managing relationships.

 

Reporting Relationships

This role directly reports to Global Lead, Research Training and dotted to Head - Centre for Operational and Research Excellence, India.

 

Duties and Key Responsibilities

The Program Manager's responsibilities include:

 

  • Developing and managing the Global Mentorship Network initiative, leading its delivery and evaluation, with the pilot program commencing in India initially.
  • Creating the program budget, allocating resources, and establishing its organisational structure.
  • Systematically assessing the Institute’s current mentorship program and undertaking gap analysis
  • Identifying high-potential individuals and connecting them with mentors.
  • Networking across regions and the healthcare ecosystem to recruit mentors.
  • Managing digital resources and communicating program impact to stakeholders.
  • Providing regular updates to key groups and stakeholders.
  • Coordinating mentorship activities, including mentor-mentee matching and event organization.
  • Offering support and guidance to mentors and mentees.
  • Tracking and evaluating mentorship progress and reporting to stakeholders.
  • Collaborating to enhance the mentorship program's effectiveness.
  • Launching the program across various platforms
  • Ensuring the program's global applicability and successful implementation across diverse region

As a Team Member:

  • Participate in team meetings and activities relating to research training and mentorship and own work area;
  • Participate in special projects to improve processes, tools, systems and organisation;
  • Take responsibility for personal learning and development and for setting achievable and meaningful work objectives and managing personal targets, meeting obligations of the Institute’s Performance Management and Development Policy;
  • Demonstrate commitment to GIS’s values, including performing to an exceptionally high ethical standard and focus on integrity, collaboration and teamwork in all efforts.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Exceptional relationship management, representational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to network and communicate (written, oral, online) confidently with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Outstanding skills in the management, delivery and evaluation of complex projects or programs as well as events, involving multiple stakeholders and interests, with outcomes and impact clearly demonstrated.
  • Experience or comprehensive knowledge of research, training and early career development pathways across the public and private sector.
  • High potential leadership skills demonstrated team management experience, and agile capabilities in working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Energy and drive to make things happen with a passion and commitment to expand the skills and opportunities of post-graduate students and early career researchers. 

Desirable

  • Competency with Sharepoint, Moodle.
  • Post-graduate qualification in a related discipline with industry experience (medical/healthcare sector)
  • Experience required minimum 5+ years in program management in the healthcare sector.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, planning, negotiating and problem-solving skills and the adaptability to changing Community priorities and ambiguous environments.
  • Proven organizational and program management skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical skills, and proven strategic thinking.
  • Excellent team-work[/leadership] skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate in small teams and with a wide range of varying stakeholders
