Mechanical Fitter - Water Services

Expressions of Interest are invited for the position of Mechanical Fitter – Water Services, based at Council's Inverell Workshop.  The successful applicant shall be responsible for the satisfactory implementation of carrying out maintenance on Council’s Water/Wastewater equipment, including pump stations, and installation of new equipment.

Essential Criteria:

Qualifications

  • NSW School Certificate or equivalent;

  • Trade Qualification in Mechanical Fitter/Welder, or other relevant mechanical trade and suitable experience;

  • NSW Class C Drivers Licence;

  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card ('White Card').

 

Desirable Criteria:

Qualifications

  • NSW Class MR Drivers Licence, or ability and willingness to obtain one;

  • National Licence to perform High Risk Work for Dogging (DG) or ability and willingness to obtain one;

  • Confined Spaces Certificate or ability and willingness to obtain one;

  • Traffic Controller Certificate or ability and willingness to obtain one;

  • Working at Heights Certificate or ability and willingness to obtain one;
  • Liquefied Chlorine Gas Level 1 Induction Training, or ability and willingness to complete;

  • Working safely near overhead powerlines certificate, or ability and willingness to complete.

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The classification for the position will be in a range up to Administrative/Technical/Trades Band 2, Level 1, Grade 8. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,190.02 to $1,281.56 gross per week. In addition, a Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of $0.498 per hour will be paid where applicable. As this position is considered to be in an at-risk category, Council requires that the successful applicant receive vaccinations for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B at Council’s expense.
