We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist to join the friendly and supportive team at our Juniper Korumup Residential Aged Care home in Albany.  Located just minutes from the Albany town centre in the suburb of Lockyer, Juniper Korumup Residential Aged Care Home is set amongst peaceful and natural surroundings. 

Whilst working in this rewarding role you will be a valued member of our multidisciplinary team and provide quality and resident focused Occupational Therapy services. You will work in partnership with our residents and their significant others to conduct relevant assessments, determine individual capabilities/preferences and set realistic goals that will support the maintenance or restoration of independence.

This will be a perfect opportunity for you if you have a passion for your work and enjoy making a positive difference to the lives of others.  Whilst working in this rewarding position you will also play a valuable role in our Transition Care Program which may involve some home visits in addition to residential work.

The Juniper Transition Care Program is a goal-oriented, strength-based, reablement program. The program goals are created in partnership with the customer and family and outcomes are measured against the progress achieved towards goals. You will play an important role in the customer journey by designing and implementing interventions tailored for the customer. Care plans are revised frequently and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support progress towards independence.

This position is being offered on a permanent part-time or full-time basis, with up to 75 hours per fortnight available.  Hours and shifts will be negotiated with the successful candidate. 

Key Responsibilities of this role

  • Assess the resident, determine individual capabilities/preferences and set realistic goals
  • Facilitate the achievement of these goals whilst maximising the residents functional capacity to undertake activities of daily living
  • Aids and equipment prescription
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with customers
  • Provide supervision and support to therapy assistants
  • Respond to the requests and concerns of families and other Carers
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team
  • Identify areas for improvement and use continuous quality approach to problem solving


The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required

  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Occupational Therapist - essential
  • Previous experience working as an OT in an aged care - desirable
  • Knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards and ACFI documentation - favourable
  • Demonstrated experience and capability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate quality care
  • Ability to relate to elderly clients with empathy whilst working effectively with other health professionals and service providers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current driver’s licence
