The role & you

This position sits within the Water Management and Treatment Section of the Water Services Division and is responsible for controlling and maintaining Council’s water treatment systems. The successful candidate will support and provide relief in the provision of water services at a town level to achieve water quality standards in a timely and cost effective manner.

You will be predominantly experienced in water treatment and water reticulation. You will have well developed technical skills and sound knowledge of Drinking Water Guidelines, EPA licence, WHS, Environmental and Quality management systems. The successful candidate will be a natural leader who has a positive manner and experience in supervising staff and delegating tasks. You will enjoy working collaboratively with others and autonomously as required. Participation in the "on-call" roster is essential after being deemed competent to ensure 24 hour water production is achieved. This involves being available for on call, call back and after hours duties if required. In addition, you must hold a current Class C drivers licence and have the ability to swim.   

You will hold the following qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Water Industry Operations and / or relevant water industry trade qualification
  • Chlorine gas handling certificate 
  • Hold an MR truck licence 
  • A Construction Induction Card (white card)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Forklift Truck Licence (LF)
  • Enter and work in confined spaces certificate
  • NSW Health fluoride training ticket

Salary: 

Package is inclusive of:

  • Base salary $66,700 p.a. – $73,400 p.a. (commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications, skills and experience)
  • Superannuation (11%)
  • An allowance of $126.93 per week will also apply. (water allowance)
  • MCCs vehicle arrangement will provide a To and From Use vehicle for work purposes only. 

Location: The position will be based at our Bootawa and Nabiac Water Treatment Plant and may be subject to change. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites. 

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
