The role

Our team of planners at MidCoast Council are committed to delivering high quality services to our community through the provision of development assessment and technical advice. We are currently seeking a Development Planner to join our Major Assessment team until January 2025.

This position will require an experienced planner who has confidence in managing a diverse portfolio of development applications. Demonstrated knowledge of environmental and planning legislation and a focus and commitment to the highest level of customer service is essential. Strong collaboration and communication skills will support you to negotiate and influence sustainable development outcomes across a diverse range of stakeholder groups.

What you'll bring

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or similar.
• Demonstrated experience in assessing development applications of varying levels of complexity in accordance with relevant legislation.
• Strong time management, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• A genuine passion and aptitude for managing relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.

Salary: Salary range from $88,702 - $97,000 p.a. plus superannuation. 

A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Maximum term full-time position until January 2025.
