The role

MidCoast Council's Community Spaces department manage over 3000 hectares of parks and open spaces, 26 sporting complexes, 84 playgrounds, 32 cemeteries and 560 Council buildings (including amenities, halls, administration buildings). Within this department our Trades team play an integral role in the delivery of services to the community through mechanical repairs and maintenance on Council fleet and plant equipment.

Working with a team of mechanical professionals, the Heavy Vehicle Mechanic will work on a range of light and heavy fleet and plant, and will undertake general maintenance, minor welding and metal fabrication, diagnostics, hydraulic repairs and road worthy inspections. This position is an opportunity to play a role in the community and will have access to ongoing personal and professional training to support growth and development. 

Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you’ll be required to complete a pre-employment medical check to ensure you can complete the essential requirements of the role. 

What you'll bring

  • Trade qualifications and experience in heavy vehicle / plant mechanics and MVRIA license.
  • A solid understanding of WH&S principles.
  • Motor Vehicles Inspectors Certificate (desirable)
  • Class MR drivers license

Salary: Commencing salary package circa $61,800 - $ 68,000 p.a. plus superannuation (depending on skills and experience) 

Location: Upon commencement your normal place of work will be the MidCoast Council Depot located on Arkwright Crescent, Taree You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time 38 hours per week
