About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pilot Vessel Master to join our team on a casual basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our pilot launches, performing maintenance on our vessels and vehicles, and providing 24-hour emergency standby for helicopter transfer operations. You will work in a dynamic environment, ensuring seamless service delivery and adherence to safety and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vessel Operation: Command and operate the company’s vessels in compliance with relevant Codes, Policies, Practices, and Survey requirements.
- Pilot Launch Scheduling: Coordinate scheduling to ensure consistent service and equitable distribution of duties among the crew.
- Maintenance Management: Assist in implementing maintenance programs to keep vessels in optimal condition and meet all legislative standards.
- Safety and Transfer Operations: Conduct safe transfers of personnel between ships and from ships to shore, upholding the highest safety standards.
- Legislative Compliance: Stay updated on Government regulations impacting marine operations and pilotage.
- Training and Readiness: Schedule and lead training in pilot transfer, search and rescue, and emergency response to ensure crew preparedness.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with the Ship Scheduler (VTS) to ensure service continuity.
About you:
To be successful in the role of Pilot Vessel Master, candidates should demonstrate the following key attributes and qualifications:
- Proven experience in commanding and operating marine vessels safely and effectively
- Commitment to maintaining high safety standards during vessel operations and personnel transfers
- Up-to-date knowledge of Government regulations and maritime legislation affecting operations and pilotage transfers
- Master <24M Near Coastal or Master Class V
- Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Near Coastal
- Marine Radio Operators Certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain an MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card)
