We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Unlimited Building Inspector to join the council and take ownership of compliance in the region. You will work closely with an energetic and positive team, delivering a range of building services to the Northern Grampians Shire and contributing to achieving a safe and sustainable built environment. This pivotal role will see you interacting with the community and industry, making a difference daily to the residents, businesses and developers within the Shire. In addition the Unlimited Senior Building Inspector plays a role in mentoring other team members, providing development, expert technical building advice, recommendations, and support to internal and external stakeholders.

About the Role
This is a key role within the council that will involve overseeing compliance with building standards in the region, with a focus on construction, alteration, demolition and maintenance.
You will also be responsible for the Council’s Building Services, ensuring that it is well-maintained while identifying areas for improvement.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing specialist advice and make recommendations associated with building related enquiries, in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Assist in the application and enforcement of building legislation and controls as it affects the Northern Grampians Shire Council, in an effective and efficient manner which promotes high quality development.
- Carry out Building Permit inspections, Essential Safety Measure Audits, Pool Safety Inspections and liaise with owners and their representatives
- Contribute to and deliver process improvement projects and initiatives which comply with legislative requirements with respect to the relevant Acts, Schemes, regulations and policies

About You
You will be a registered, experienced Unlimited Building Inspector, with significant demonstrated experience in the field and tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
Other requirements for this role include:
- Registration with the Victorian Building Authority as a Building Inspector (unlimited)
- The ability to interpret relevant legislation and regulation and apply to principles of practice
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate specialist problems to key stakeholders
