About the Program
The Bilingual Hospital to Home (H2H) program supports people living with mental ill health and people who have self-harmed or attempted suicide; for up to 12 weeks following discharge from hospital. Bilingual H2H is a psychosocial model and activity includes referrals to community supports to build capacity and work towards recovery and resilience. We help people to connect, to live well in their community.
About the Role
The Bilingual Mental Health Worker is responsible to build relationships and capacity within the Western Sydney Community to strengthen co-ordination, referral pathways and connections between GPs, Allied Health Providers, Government Agencies, Health Services and Community Services to improve support for individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse populations who are impacted by severe and persistent mental health conditions.
ODMH operates locally as self-organised teams – called Recovery 2gether teams. Team members are collectively responsible and accountable for:
• working with the people we support (e.g. clients, consumers, family, and carers) and
• team tasks.
As a team member, you will work collaboratively with other team members to facilitate the effective operation of the team.

Your skills and experience

Relevant tertiary qualifications to Certificate IV in mental health, peer work or related field, and/or two years of experience in mental health related work.

Bilingual – fluent in relevant language/s of the culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Western Sydney. Speakers of languages including Farsi, Dari, Cantonese, Mandarin are encouraged to apply.

An understanding of the recovery- based approach to assisting people with severe and persistent mental illness.

An ability to exercise personal responsibility and work as part of a self organising team, with support and guidance of the team coach.

Demonstrated computer literacy to use Microsoft programs and the capability to learn other applications.

Strong relationship building skills to navigate, collaborate and develop partnerships with the NSW mental health system and local services.

A current driver’s licence and access to a fully insured vehicle.
Additional Details
One Door Mental Health requires all staff to have a Police Check clearance, a current Working with Children's Check and NDIS Worker Screening clearance and appropriate COVID-19 Vaccination.
