Temporary 2 year fixed term Traineeship

 

About the Role

Gladstone Ports Corporation is actively seeking candidates that are seeking an opportunity to complete a 2 year fixed term Traineeship who have an aptitude for manual work within our Operations Department. This unique learning opportunity aligns with GPC’s local employment strategies and aims to provide those with limited industry experience to further develop portable machinery, plant skills and clean-up duties in line with the Terminals environmental compliance, including tunnels, belts, drains, transfer houses and the berths. The role will include machinery operation, inspections, trouble shooting, shipping movements, with a focus on general labouring work to support its safe and efficient operation. Completion of the relevant training package enables capability to provide operator expertise within the range of machinery utilised on site.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Understanding of basic equipment pertaining to Machinery operations;
  • General labouring, housekeeping and basic hand tools knowledge;
  • Capability to work flexible hours;
  • Complete training targets;
  • Ability to work across different work groups.
  • Promote and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure all safe work systems, procedures and standards are adhered to through frequent inspection of the workplace.

 

About You

We are looking for candidates with a growth mindset and a willingness to develop your skills in machinery operations whilst primarily performing clean up duties. Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm's way. Be focused on working collaboratively within your teams to achieve results. Ability to follow relevant processes and procedures within current department. Be a team player who is self-motivated and willing to learn and contribute to promoting a supportive and positive team culture.

 

Mandatory requirements

  • Meet age restrictions for high risk tickets (minimum of 18 years old with a ‘C’ Class Manual Drivers Licence)
