About us

Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania.

The central production Kitchen at the Ron Conn Nursing Home is a facility specifically designed to provide a high-quality food and nutritional service for Nursing Home, Aged Care Facilities.

  

Your new role

Wintringham is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Food Services Assistant to join our Food Services Team on a Permanent Full-Time basis to work Monday to Friday. This role will undertake a range of general kitchen duties such as meal distribution to our other residential homes, food preparation, plating and service of food, ensuring that meals are nutritious and well presented. 

Your roster will be as follows:

 

Weeks 1 & 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (0630 – 1430)

 

Your responsibilities and duties will include:

 

  • Ensure meal distribution to all services is accurate and timely.
  • Assists the Food Services Team to ensure to that the food services program complies with the food safety act.
  • Assist Chefs in the preparation, cooking, serving, cross checking and packing of the meals for delivery.
  • Undertake general kitchen duties that include cleaning, dishwashing and plating of meals.
  • Ensure all meals produced are of a good visual and nutritional standard in quantities appropriate with resident’s needs.
  • Ensure all special diets are correct in content.
  • Assist in the development, review and maintenance of standard recipes for each menu item.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • A current Food Handlers certificate preferred or a willingness to undertake Food Safety Training.
  • Prior Food Services experience in Aged or Community Care (highly advantageous)
  • Good understanding of Food Safety Requirements
  • Ability to work within a team as well as autonomously
  • Adaptability to changes in the environment.

Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including having three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine as well as a 2024 Influenza vaccination before commencing employment and must provide evidence.
